The kids absolutely loved spending their afternoons by the river, trying to catch fish while my wife and I enjoyed the peaceful surroundings. It was a great way to bond as a family and enjoy nature together.
My children wanted more activities specifically catered to them.

The double room at Atha Safari Resort & Riverside Camping was cozy and comfortable, with a seating area perfect for lounging and watching movies on the DVD player. It also had a tea/coffee maker, allowing me to enjoy a warm beverage at my convenience. The private bathroom with a shower was a refreshing touch, making my stay even more convenient and enjoyable.
Personally, the spa bath in the room wasn't my cup of tea. But hey, others might still find it relaxing and enjoyable!

The best part of our stay was being surrounded by the beautiful nature of Sri Lanka. The location of the hotel was perfect, nestled in the jungle and by a river. We loved being able to relax in the hammocks and watch the monkeys playing in the trees. Another great aspect was the delicious home-cooked food. We savored every bite and it was definitely one of the highlights of our trip. Additionally, the owner was extremely helpful and went out of his way to ensure we had a pleasant stay.
There wasn't much we didn't like about our experience at the hotel. However, it's worth mentioning that this is a camping resort, so don't expect luxury amenities like a pool or air conditioning.

I had an amazing experience at Atha Resort in Udawalawe. The family running the place were incredibly welcoming and made me feel right at home. The resort itself is a little piece of jungle paradise, with beautiful surroundings and a peaceful atmosphere. The food was excellent, with different options for breakfast and dinner each day. The hosts also went above and beyond to arrange safaris and other outings for me. a 10/10 experience.
Couldn't recommend this hotel more.

We had a wonderful time in the middle of a beautiful jungle, surrounded by palm trees and monkeys. the homemade meals, cooked by the owner's wife, were delicious and served in a romantic setting. the hammocks in the palms were extremely comfortable, allowing us to relax while observing the river. the owner was very dedicated to ensuring we had a great safari experience, going above and beyond to spot as many animals as possible. We enjoyed reading next to the river, taking a swim, and showering outdoors in the sun.
The bright lights during dinner made the romantic setting feel less intimate.

We had such a romantic and enjoyable escape at this resort. The serene and calm environment was perfect for a couple looking to relax and unwind. The beautiful landscaped garden allowed us to stroll hand in hand and the adjacent river added to the tranquil atmosphere. The architecture of the room was unique and gave us a special experience. We were also pleasantly surprised by the facilities available, they exceeded our expectations. The homemade food was absolutely delicious and catered to both of our tastes.
One aspect that could be improved upon is the lighting in the unit. It could have been a bit brighter to create a more cozy and intimate ambiance.
